Plant in full sun for best colour but will tolerate semi-shade. Likes well-drained soils. Once established is able to tolerate extended dry periods and is reasonably frost hardy. Responds well to cutting in late Spring once peak flowering has finished. Feeding with a careful application of low phosphorus slow release fertilisers in Spring can be made if required.

An attractively variegated version of the hardy and useful ground covering Grevillea gaudi chaudi. Grevillea ‘Gold Rush’ is superb for quick effect and bright colour when we need it most - in winter and early spring. Plant it in a sunny spot, in soil that drains freely, and watch it grow. All it needs is a light pruning after flowering to keep it bushy. As it’s happiest in poor soils there’s no need for fertilisers and a high degree of drought tolerance means there’s no need to worry about watering. Evergreen and dense growing, ‘Gold Rush’ is excellent for low maintenance gardens. Group it with other bushy Grevillea varieties, Leucadendrons and Proteas on a sunny bank or border and you will get lots of flowers and attractive foliage for very little effort as there will be no room for weeds once the shrubs meet up.

Grevillea 'Moonlight' is a popular garden plant in New Zealand gardens.

It has deeply divided dark green fern-like leaves that are approximately 20 cm (8 in) long. The inflorescences are creamy white racemes that are up to 25 cm (10 in) long, and may occur year-round.

It thrives in a well-drained sunny position. It is tolerant of humidity and frost. Heavy pruning may be required to keep it from getting top-heavy as well as promoting a dense habit.

A continuous flowering from autumn to spring makes any shrub desirable, but especially so when the flowers are a warm shade of pinkish red, and set off superbly by the fine, deep green foliage, as they are with Grevillea ‘Nancy Otzen’. This lover of sunshine and well drained soils is ideal for low maintenance borders and banks. It’s happiest when soils aren’t too rich, so you don’t need to spend time or money on giving it fertiliser, and all it needs is an occasional trimming to shape after flowering, but even that isn’t essential.

Getting the birds!

Nectar rich flowers attract native birds such as wax eyes, tui and bellbirds to Grevillea ‘Robin Hood’. The flowering season is extensive and this alone gives it plenty of appeal, but when there are birds balancing on the stems as they feed it’s a real bonus. Plant other bird attracting shrubs and trees too and you could have a garden which is full of bird song and movement all year round.

Other Grevilleas, especially ‘Robyn Gordon’, are good for luring native birds too.

Before the advent of aluminium, Grevillea robusta timber was widely used for external window joinery, as it is resistant to wood rot. It has been used in the manufacture of furniture, cabinetry, and fences.

Large, fast growing, MAJESTIC, evergreen tree that in late Spring and Summer bears a profusion of large, bright orange, toothbrush-like flowers.

The bark is dark grey and furrowed. Its leaves are fern-like.

Prefer a sunny site in moist, well drained soil. Tolerates light frost and short periods of drought.

Due to it's size at maturity, this tree should not be planted near buildings.

Ideal as a shade, shelter or timber tree for parks or lifestyle properties. 

The flowers attract nectar-feeding birds.

A small, spreading, evergreen shrub displaying pinkish-red flowers that age to rosy red. Prefers a sunny site in moist, well drained soil. Tolerates frosts and withstands dry periods. Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Prune annually. Mulch well.

Ideal specimen or screening shrub, flowering almost continually and attracting nectar feeding birds.

A dense spreading shrub with dark green leaves that bear deep crimson red flowers in profusion from mid Winter to mid Spring.

It is a very hardy plant which is best planted in an open sunny situation in a free draining acidic soil. It is drought tolerant once established. Prune to shape and size once flowering has finished or mid to late Spring.

A colourful shrub for the larger shrub border or for use as a screen plant. Flowers are a source of food to smaller nectar feeding birds. Great addition to any coastal garden.

'Strawberry Blonde' A medium tree which in maturity will match it's height with width. Produces long tooth brush flowers terminally that are two toned burgundy on the inner and creamy yellow on the outer. The foliage on 'Strawberry Blonde' is distinctively unique than most other Grevilleas and well worth looking at.

Suited to most free draining soils in full sun. Trim to maintain shape and size after flowering has finished or in late Spring.

'Grevillea Red Lanterns' is one of the softer-foliage The fine foliage is almost web-like or lacey and very attractive in its own right. 

Each of the bright-red flower-heads is made up of many small flowers which are densely crowded onto heads or spikes with their most conspicuous feature being the long styles which are first bent over like a hair pin and then straighten out giving them a spider-like appearance. These appear over a long period of time from Winter and into early Spring, with spot flowering at other times of the year.

Once 'Red Lanterns' is established it requires minimal water although in extended dry periods will appreciate a deep watering occasionally and mulching to retain moisture and control weeds is beneficial. After flowering a light prune will maintain the desired shape and encourage a more a more bushy habit.

'Red Lantern' will perform better in full sun or part shade and will also tolerate poor soils although prefers a well drained soil, sand or clay as well as coastal areas. Drought tolerant once established, good for coastal gardens.

The soft pink ‘spider’ flowers show up beautifully on this plant.

Regarded as frost hardy, this grevillea adapts well to partial shade although full sun is preferred. Most suited to well-drained acidic soils. Prune late Spring or after flowering has finished to shape and size.

A dwarf to small spreading shrub with soft grey green deeply lobed leaves. Flowering is from Winter to Summer. The large pendulous clusters of apricot flowers are usually borne terminally and are spectacular!

It is adaptable to most well drained acidic soils in an open sunny situation. It is quite tolerant of dry conditions once established. Prune to shape and size in late Spring to keep compact and to enhance future flowering. Avoid fertilisers.
